Job Summary

Frontier Housing’s mission is providing affordable housing solutions to build better communities. Frontier has served northeastern Kentucky communities since 1974 by developing & financing housing for homeowners and renters, and providing owner-occupied repair services. Frontier offers a supportive, fast-paced work environment, where we work together to build better communities. The Development Officer will work to gather the resources Frontier needs in order to carry out its mission. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nonprofit management, fundraising, and proposal writing, with a passion for making a difference in the community. This role will involve developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies, managing donor relationships, and overseeing events that promote our mission.
Responsibilities

• Work with Program Staff to identify Frontier’s funding needs;
• Develop and maintain relationships with key funders and donors;
• Identify and research potential funding opportunities;
• Prepare and submit high-quality funding proposals to a wide range of funders including state and federal agencies, Federal Home Loan Banks, foundations, and federal agencies;
• Follow up on submitted proposals and provide feedback to the team;
• Maintain records of submitted proposals and awarded funding;
• Coordinate the strategic use of consultants to develop some funding proposals and capital campaign efforts;
• Work with the Donor Relations Officer on Frontier’s fundraising efforts;
• Perform other related duties as required.
  Experience
• Knowledge of state, federal and private loan and grant funding programs for affordable housing and community development, and a track record of success applying for funding;
• Experience making presentations to stakeholders, partners and potential funders;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel;
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, including people of varying economic means;
• Eligible to be employed in the United States;
• The capacity to work independently, and perform specific outcome goals;
• Knowledge of, and an affinity for, central Appalachian communities;
• 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, capitalization, or related endeavors;
• Knowledge of, and an affinity for, Frontier’s mission, and its vision for a better future for the communities it serves.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

• Existing relationships with public agencies, corporations, foundations, and other funders which are prepared to support Frontier’s work;
• The ability to speak Spanish.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
