Two families were welcomed to their new homes on March 5, 2026, at New Hope Estates in Floyd County. A ribbon cutting was held at both homes, located at Cliff Road in Prestonsburg. The event celebrated the completion of two newly built homes for flood survivors, as part of flood recovery efforts.
Two additional homes are under construction. New Hope Estates will have approximately 40 homes when the project is complete.
Helping families celebrate were Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, representatives from Congressman Hal Rogers and Senator Rand Paul’s offices, Floyd County Judge-Executive Robbie Williams, Prestonsburg Mayor Rick Hughes, Big Sandy Area Development District Executive Director Eric Ratliff, Fahe, and Kentucky Housing Corporation’s Curtis Stauffer.
The project was made possible by a collaborative team effort to connect families with the opportunity to live in a safe, healthy, and affordable home. Frontier Housing and the Kentucky Department for Local Government accessed grant and loan funding to help flood-impacted families start fresh in a safe environment.
Funding for this project was made possible by a number of agencies that helped fill gaps in the cost of the building of these homes: Rural Housing Trust Fund, TeamKY, Foundation of Appalachian KY, and Frontier Housing.
