FUNCTIONS: The Assistant to the President’s job is to assist the President & CEO in the management of Frontier Housing, Inc. (Frontier). The Assistant to the President will provide administrative support, operational coordination, and project management to the President, and provide programmatic support to positions reporting to the President. This position is responsible for managing logistics with internal and external partners, serving as a liaison with the Frontier board of directors in close coordination with the President, and managing the President’s calendar. The Assistant to the President is responsible for monitoring assigned activities, document and data management, and serving as a liaison between the President and office’s partners & stakeholders. This is a salaried position that is considered exempt.

POSITIONAL GOALS:
- Enable the President/CEO to be more focused on Frontier’s strategic objectives and its impact in the region;
- Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the President/CEO;
- Increase the effectiveness and impact of Frontier and its staff;
- Increase board member engagement with the organization through timely communications and enrichment opportunities; and
- Increased the level of collaboration between Frontier’s senior staff members;
DUTIES:
- Serve as liaison and central point of information on behalf of the President with departments and external organizations;
- Communicate internally and externally on behalf of the President & CEO in a variety of contexts by providing information, drafting status updates, assisting with the coordination of activities, and formulating solutions;
- Manage the corporate calendar and the calendar of the President, making travel arrangements as needed, and making decisions regarding prioritization of schedules, logistics, travel arrangements, agendas and other activities;
- Manage the President’s email;
- Handle confidential information-delivered through a variety of mediums including oral communication, email and hard documents-with tact and discretion;
- Work with Frontier board and committee members, and the Frontier staff charged with staffing committees to manage meeting times, ensure timely distribution of meeting information and follow-up correspondence;
- Assist with management of strategic plans and performance challenges;
- Work with internal and external stakeholders, including funders, senior executives of external stakeholders, consultants, and other partners by attending meetings to represent Frontier and managing follow-up, as assigned;
- Represent Frontier in a most positive manner with customers, suppliers and communities we serve; interacting with a diverse group of staff, customers and stakeholders;
- Serve as a staff aid to the Board Secretary;
- Assemble monthly management books (monthly reports from Senior Staff and other materials on programmatic issues and operational results) for dissemination to Senior Staff;
- Prepare travel reports, expense reports, and other reports on behalf of the President;
- Attend Senior Staff meetings;
- Manage the ordering of supplies for the office;
- Serve as an administrator for office systems such as phones and the security system to provide cover for the primary staff charged with these duties;
- Supervise interns and volunteers, as appropriate; and
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: A successful candidate will have:
- Proven capacity to manage, prepare, and deliver written and oral communications
- The capacity to work with others in a team setting;
- The capacity to work independently;
- The capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently;
- Experience with MS Word, MS Excel & MS Outlook;
- Ability to learn quickly on the job;
- Knowledge of, and an affinity for, central Appalachian communities; and
- Knowledge of, and an affinity for, Frontier’s mission, and its vision for a better future for the communities it serves.
In addition, the successful candidate must be willing to travel within Frontier’s service area and to some infrequent regional, state or national conferences.
