Morehead, KY – Frontier Housing is seeking a qualified environmental professional to provide various services and oversight of the Brownfield Cleanup Grant for the abandoned Hayswood Hospital in Maysville.
Frontier successfully completed a lengthy, technical submission phase to access the $1,999,900 Brownfield Cleanup Grant awarded by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The grant will be used to remediate hazardous substance contamination of the Hayswood Hospital property in downtown Maysville.
A notice of request for proposals/qualifications was advertised on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, in the Maysville Ledger Independent. Proposals will be accepted until 4 p.m., March 28, 2024. The request provides specifications and requirements for a qualified environmental engineering firm to lead the cleanup activities.
Frontier will have 60 days to review and select a qualified firm from the bid opening date. That firm will provide services such as finalizing various plans, determining detailed cost estimates to keep the project in budget, creating bidding specifications and documents for abatement/remediation, and other such professional services needed to move the project towards abatement/remediation.

Frontier worked with city, county, and state officials, along with staff from Buffalo Trace Area Development District, to secure the funding. Frontier purchased the approximately 1.5-acre property in November 2022.
