Frontier Housing believes that everyone should have a safe, decent, and affordable place to live in the communities they love. Our goal is to make that happen in Central Appalachia by serving families and individuals with a wide variety of housing products, including new construction, existing home renovation and repairs, rental units, and homeownership and credit counseling services. Frontier is a non-profit and has served northeastern Kentucky communities for 50 years.
Frontier Housing is seeking a Weatherization Crew Member to assist and support the goals for the Weatherization program, working with the Weatherization Program Manager to coordinate daily operations ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures. This position will include travel to Breathitt, Lee, Owsley and Wolfe Counties.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is the nation’s largest residential energy efficiency program. WAP enables low-income families to lower their energy bills by making their homes more energy efficient.
Goals for the first 12 months:
- Weatherize dwellings through installation of insulation, sealing, caulking, weather stripping, carbon monoxide & smoke detectors, roof repairs, installation of windows, and other minor repairs
- Be aware of lead-safe practices
- Work with other team members to ensure quality installation of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs).
- Use problem-solving skills to analyze existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.
A successful candidate will likely have:
- Excellent communication skills
- Technical & mathematical skills
- Basic carpentry skills
- Possess good recordkeeping skills
- Understanding of state and local building codes or ability to learn guidelines.
- Skilled in Microsoft software products; Word, Excel, & Outlook.
The Weatherization Crew Member will be based in Wolfe County, KY and report to the Director of Construction. Occasional travel within Frontier’s 22-county service area, and travel for training is required. Must have a valid driver’s license. A clean driving record and ability to drive company vehicles is required. This position is hourly, non-exempt.
